When photographer Alison Conklin approached us to do her new business cards, we jumped at the chance. Not only is she an amazing and wonderful photographer, but she has great taste — so we knew that we could provide her with a great design that is just as much fun for her as it is for us. We wanted the papercut but had to cheat a little; we used a laser (acutally, we sent it to someone who then used a laser…). They were then letterpressed and die cut on 220lb. pearl white Lettra.

When trying to figure out what to do will all of our misprints and overflow we decided that coasters would be the prefect solution. Every day we have a few left over letter-press prints that are too beautiful to throw away so we decided to duplex them with chip board. They are a great gift for the “green” person in your life not to mention they look amazing. They come in 2 color families – warm (yellow, orange, pink and red) and cool (blue, green, teal, and gray).

Traditional letterpress printing was a means for mass production. It was a poor pressman whose work showed any impression. The advent of offset and digital printing rendered the process and machinery obsolete — until artists and hobbyists began buying up the presses and using them in a new way, printing with a deep impression. Some of the old school printers refer to this sort of printing as the “black arts” — we think it is beautiful…

Pressed 55 is a full service commercial letterpress and design shop located in suburban Philadelphia. We combine our late 19th and early 20th century presses with digital type (and a bit of perfectionism); offering in house printing and plate making, custom die cutting, duplexing, and various other finishing services.

Mink Wedding Invitations

Project: Mink Wedding

Caroline and Eric met at summer camp. While it may not have been love at first sight, the years have certainly brought them together. This inspired us to choose a tree motif incorporating hints of the symbolic initial carving: “C (heart) E”. The couple wanted to use fun colors to match their personalities, and we happily obliged. This A9 invite was printed in purple ink on 110# orange and green French Paper. It was finished with rounded corners and custom envelopes.

Moran Wedding

Project: Moran Wedding

Meghan and Robert wanted to somehow incorporate their love of all things equine into their classic beach wedding. What did they do? They decided to combine the ever popular monogram with a sea horse. This A7 invite was printed in blues on 110# florescent white Lettra and is accompanied by matching reply and brunch cards, as well as a booklet detailing surrounding restaurants and all of the “beachy” activities happening over their wedding weekend.
